Tutor program students and their parents invited to Family STEM Discovery Night

By Staff | Feb 21, 2019

Last week, third- and fifth-graders spent time learning about their hearts. Students had a lesson covering how the heart works, why they need to take care of it and how best to do that.

LAHAINA – On Thursday, Feb. 28, fourth and fifth grade students in the Lahaina Complex After School Tutor Project and their parents are invited to attend Family STEM (science, technology, engineering and math) Discovery Night.

The event will be held in the Princess Nahienaena Elementary School Cafeteria from 6 to 7:30 p.m.

Students and their parents will participate in exciting, unique hands-on demonstrations, science experiments and exploration stations covering chemistry, climate, Earth and space.

Discovery Night is designed to inspire expanding imagination and curiosity among families and to spark new ideas and conversations.

Parents and students have an opportunity to work and learn together.

Pizza and drinks will be provided at the end of the event.

The Lahaina Complex After School Tutor Project’s arts and mathematics programs include many enrichment projects during the school year and summer.

Again, this summer, STEM and Lahaina Yacht Club camps will be offered to selected students in grades three through five.
