Commission to hear proposal on instream flow standards for Kahoma and Kanaha streams
LAHAINA – The State Commission on Water Resource Management will hold its November meeting on Tuesday, Nov. 20, from 10 a.m. at the Veterans Memorial Hall at 198 Fleming Road in Lahaina.
During the meeting, the commission staff will present its findings and proposal on instream flow standards for Kahoma and Kanaha streams in the surface water hydrologic unit of Kahoma.
Public testimony will be heard at the meeting; written testimony may be e-mailed to the commission at dlnr.cwrm@hawaii.gov three working days prior for distribution at the meeting.
The proposed instream flow standards for Kahoma and Kanaha streams follows up on earlier instream flow standards that were set by the commission for Ukumehame, Olowalu, Launiupoko and Kaua’ula streams back on March 20, 2018.
Commission Deputy Director Jeffrey Pearson said, “The commission staff is continuing its instream flow standard assessment work in West Maui and deeply appreciates the assistance and support that the West Maui community has shown to us.”
