The 2018 Relay For Life of West Maui will be held on Sept. 8 at Maui Paintball at 814 Honoapiilani Highway in Olowalu.

LAHAINA – Team registration for the Relay For Life of West Maui 2018 is now open. Event organizers are also excited to announce a new venue for this year’s relay.

The family-friendly Mardi Gras-themed West Maui Relay will take place on Saturday, Sept. 8, at the Maui Paintball field in Olowalu.

Families, businesses and corporate teams are invited to join the American Cancer Society and volunteers as they raise funds to support cancer research and free programs and services for local cancer patients and their families.

At Relay For Life events, no one faces cancer alone. The West Maui community comes together every year to support and celebrate survivors and caregivers.

This life-changing event gives everyone in communities across the globe a chance to celebrate the lives of people who have battled cancer, remember loved ones lost and fight back against the disease.

At the relay, teams of community members set up tents and take turns walking or running around a track lit by luminaria, each with a personalized dedication honoring a loved one touched by cancer.

Each team is asked to have a representative on the track at all times during the event that runs from 5 p.m. to midnight.

Live entertainment keeps the teams active and entertained all night long.

Special events and activities are also held for survivors and their caregivers, so they may connect with others and know there is a strong support system available to them.
