Rotary Club of Lahaina Sunset to host ‘Celebrations Meeting’

KAANAPALI – On Tuesday, June 19, the Rotary Club of Lahaina Sunset will host a special “Celebrations Meeting” at the Royal Ocean Terrace Restaurant at the Royal Lahaina Resort.

Social and check-in begins at 5 p.m., and the meeting will be held from 5:30 to 6:30 p.m.

Guests may order from the restaurant menu at a 25 percent discount for this meeting.

A number of events and people will be recognized at this meeting.

Three high school graduates will be awarded scholarships by the club.

Macaleigh Hendricks from Kihei Charter High School will be presented with the $5,000 Hawaii Rotary Youth Foundation Scholarship, and Caele Manley from Molokai High School and Ruby O’Donnell from Lahainaluna High School will each be presented with club $2,500 “Go for the Green” scholarships.

The Vocational Service Award for a business will be presented to Amy Johnston representing the Royal Lahaina Resort.

The Vocational Service Award for an individual will be presented to Jenny Heagney from Bubba Gump Shrimp Co. in Lahaina.

At the meeting, there will also be two “surprise” award recognitions: the Quiet Rotarian and the Rotary Spirit Award. The club will also celebrate the recognition of being named the Small Club of the Year for the third consecutive year by the Rotary Clubs of Hawaii, District 5,000.

A video presentation will be shown that will feature the highlights of the club’s many activities during the 2017-18 Rotary Year.

The public is invited to attend this “Celebrations Meeting.” To quote Membership Chair Jim Fahnestock, “Come see for yourself how we won Small Club of the Year three years in a row – good work good friends… good fun.”
