Holy Innocents Episcopal Church to hold ‘Paper Bag Pageant’
LAHAINA – All are invited to join in the 12th year of Holy Innocents Episcopal Church’s annual “Paper Bag Pageant.”
This innovative “paper bag” Christmas pageant will occur during the 9 a.m. Sunday service on Dec. 10 at the 561 Front St. church.
All folks in the community and Holy Innocents Preschool kids and their families are welcome to join in the celebration.
In addition to having the preschool kids open the service with “This Little Light of Mine,” the church community will also welcome the Sacred Hearts Honors Choir. Come check it out!
“Every visitor and parishioner will have a part to play, from angels to stars to shepherds,” explained Rev. Amy Crowe, vicar of this historic Episcopal Church founded in 1862.
A paper bag will be given out at the door to each person, and all will prepare with their costumes. At the proper cue by the narrator, every person will join the manger scene assembling before the altar.
Over ten years, this pageant continues to draw many from all over as the church celebrates during this Christmas season the birth of the Christ Child.
Taking part in the pageant while singing Christmas carols lifts the spirit of all, creating a morning of “chicken skin.”
This one-hour Christmas pageant service is open to all. It will be followed by birthday cake for Baby Jesus and a potluck in the courtyard behind the sanctuary. All are invited to celebrate and bring a dish to share.
