Leslie Hiraga returns to Lahainaluna as PCNC facilitator
LAHAINA – The pathway to building a future of spiritual richness is manifested in Lahainaluna High School’s steadfast endeavor to educate and support the youth of the community in their most formative years.
It is thus no surprise that the current principal, Lynn Kahoohalahala, is an alumnus from the Lahainaluna Class of 1969.
She is joined by a total of 40 other LHS graduates on campus in varying positions from principal to faculty, administration and staff (not including the athletic coaching staff that is brimming with former Lunas).
Among the alumni group on campus is returning Parent Community Networking Center Facilitator Leslie Hiraga from the Class of 1977.
Hiraga took a hiatus from the position for a few years, but now she is back in her familiar seat in the campus administration building serving as the liaison between the school and the student body families.
The mission statement reads, “The Parent Community Networking Centers are focal points for networking students and their families with the resources and services of the school and the community. The PCNC serve to create supportive partnerships between home, the school, and the community for the purpose of improving student achievement, performance, and growth, and building a sense of community.”
Hiraga is delighted to be back at Lahainaluna and wished to introduce the new members of the administration and faculty to the community as one of her first orders of business.
In the administrative office, Keola Rogat (LHS Class of ’94) is the temporary assignment vice principal for 12th grade students, and Jeri Dean (’88) is the cohort training VP for freshmen. They join longtime Vice Principals Joanne Dennis (tenth grade) and Mark Sims (11th grade).
New faculty members include Warren Boes (biology), Rebecca Cohen (athletic trainer), Steven Fisher (English), Kenneth Goring (English Language Learner), Mark Hemza (Special Education), Nathan Kahaialii (Class of 2010, Physical Education and Health), Nathan Pallet (Class of 2011, Natural Resources) and Noe Pizano (World Languages).
Contact Hiraga at 662-3979, extension 311, with any questions you may have regarding your students at Lahainaluna.
