Children’s Grief Awareness Day to be observed on Nov. 16
WAILUKU – On Thursday, Nov. 16, Maui nonprofit Na Keiki O Emalia will mark Children’s Grief Awareness Day – a national day of awareness – with various activities that raise support for grieving children on Maui.
Children’s Grief Awareness Day is an annual event founded in 2008 to help others understand the impact of death on children and their need for support.
Na Keiki O Emalia volunteers will be providing information at Makawao Farmers Market from 10 a.m. until 4 p.m., and Maui residents and visitors will find “ballot box”-style donation boxes in over 50 retail stores around Maui, including at island-wide locations of Minit Stop, Tamura’s, and Ululani’s Shave Ice, which are being displayed for one day only in support of Children’s Grief Awareness Day.
Other West Maui locations include Leoda’s Kitchen & Pie Shop in Olowalu, Teddy’s Bigger Burgers in Lahaina and Maui Brewing Company in Kahana.
Supporters of Na Keiki O Emalia are also encouraged to host their own Facebook fundraisers on Nov. 16. The Maui community is welcome to participate on Nov. 16 by spreading the word and showing support to grieving children.
