County sewer rates increase

By Staff | Jul 13, 2017

WAILUKU – The county Department of Environmental Management’s Wastewater Reclamation Division reminds its customers that the sewer user fee increased by an average of 3 percent on July 1.

The rate increases were approved by the County Council and are necessary to keep the utility financially self-supporting.

Sewer user fees are structured so each customer class pays its equitable share of operations, maintenance and repair of the wastewater infrastructure.

All budget documents and ordinances are available online at www.mauicounty.gov/Budget.

In related news, the Maui County Department of Water Supply announced the release of the 2017 Annual Water Quality Report for Jan. 1 to Dec. 31, 2016.

Each year, the department provides its customers with an Annual Water Quality Report that includes water source and quality information as compared with established federal and state drinking water standards.

This report provides details on your drinking water as delivered to you in 2016. Visit mauiwater.org, click on “Water Quality Report” on the left side of the page, then click on the selected water system name on the map.

You may obtain a hard copy of the report by printing it directly from the website, by calling the department at (808) 270-7550 or by writing to the following address: Water Quality Laboratory, Department of Water Supply, 614 Palapala Drive, Kahului, HI 96732.
