Lahaina News to be mailed with the Maui Wrap starting in July

By Staff | Jun 22, 2017

LAHAINA – Adding value to both publications, the Lahaina News and Maui Wrap will be mailed together starting the first week of July 2017.

With a more than 37-year history, Lahaina News is West Maui’s award-winning weekly community newspaper. Also direct mailed to West Side residents, the Maui Wrap weekly features news stories from The Maui News, classified ads and a variety of inserts. Both papers are owned by Hawaii Publications Inc.

There will be no change in delivery of Lahaina News for the thousands of West Maui residents that subscribe to The Maui News and use Post Office boxes.

Beginning on July 5, 2017, West Maui residents that currently get the Maui Wrap will receive the Lahaina News inside. The cover of the Maui Wrap will be changed to note that the Lahaina News is inserted.

“The new single mailing will combine our weekly community paper with the plusses of The Maui News daily, including news stories from around the island, a bigger classified section and inserts from West Maui supermarkets,” said Lahaina News Editor Mark Vieth.

The move will save both publications money in postage and distribution. Currently, the Lahaina News and Maui Wrap are both delivered to the Lahaina Post Office along Honoapiilani Highway on Tuesdays and sent out in separate mailings.
