Lahaina-Honolua Senior Citizens Club honors LHS HOSA graduates with scholarships
LAHAINA – On Wednesday, May 10, seven outstanding Lahainaluna High School students in the Health Occupations Students of America (HOSA) were honored with scholarships from the Lahaina-Honolua Senior Citizens Club.
Students receiving scholarships were Jamie Fujii, Antonio Bak, Jamille Andres, Kristel Yagyagan, Nunthiya Fakava, Arden Domawa and Mike Nguyen (alumni).
These students will attend colleges and universities to prepare for careers in nursing, biology, psychology, surgery and dentistry.
The club’s Scholarship Committee comprised of Evelyn Toba, Cecelia Balinbin and Pat and Richard Endsley proudly represented their club.
Scholarship recipients received leis, certificates and congratulatory messages. Committee members thanked neighbors, friends and club members who donate flowers that are sewn into leis and sold to provide annual scholarships.
The scholarship recipients were also honored at the HOSA Banquet on Thursday, May 18.
Lahainaluna High School Health Pathways teacher Malia Shimomura was congratulated for her dedication in providing an exceptionally superlative program that produces outstanding students, who plan to continue their education beyond high school.
