Lahainaluna High School Foundation to award $189,000 in scholarships
LAHAINA – The Lahainaluna High School Foundation last week announced that it will administer 59 scholarships, representing 37 donors, for a total of $189,000 to graduating seniors this May.
The Lahainaluna High School Scholarship Awards Ceremony will be held on campus, in Hale Pa’ina, on May 10.
The foundation welcomed five new scholarships this year: AAAAA Rent-A-Space, Bonnie Ann Fijal Memorial, George & Shirley Ito, James N. Martin Memorial, and Shelton ‘Ohana.
Returning scholarships are listed below. The (R) designates scholarships that provide an opportunity to renew. Scholarships include the Maureen Setsuko Ariyoshi Memorial; Luly Baker; Bank of Hawaii; Boss Frog’s Dive & Surf; Central Pacific Bank-Lahaina Branch; Mark & Judy Ellman; Front Street (renewals only); Ebrahim Gabbay, M.D., Memorial; Kihachiro J. Hotta Memorial Endowed; Shigeru & Toyoko Ichiki Endowed (R); Ilocandia Filipino Store; Ka Ipukukui ‘A Mau Pio ‘Ole I Ke Kaua’ula; Kaanapali Land Management Corp.; Sgt. James Kusuda Memorial; Lahainaluna Boarder’s Association; Lahaina Fish Co.; Lahaina Hawaiian Civic Club; Lahainaluna High School Foundation; Makana Aloha Foundation (R); Holly & Rob Manning-H&L Magazine of Maui Magazine; Mint Green House Scholarship; Na Hoaloha Ekolu (R); RVN Restaurant; Roy & Betty Sakamoto (R); Alfredo Fred Sarian Memorial; Steven R. The foundation will also award one teacher scholarship (Dr. James Kumagai, Class of 1952) and a teacher recognition award (Matsue and the late Hisao Fujii) in May.
