Lahaina Canoe Club welcomes new paddlers
LAHAINA – Lahaina Canoe Club welcomes everyone with open arms to an exciting 2017 canoe paddling season. Registration for the upcoming season will be held on Saturday, March 11, from 10 a.m. to noon at Hanakao’o Beach Park. Activities will follow registration.
Lahaina Canoe Club was founded on the idea of educating and preserving the Hawaiian culture through the practice of hoe wa`a. LCC strives to create a safe atmosphere for all while instilling aloha, malama and mahalo in all aspects of the club, from keiki to kupuna and all those that came before them.
The club noted, “As we move forward, you will see changes to Lahaina Canoe Club; we have decided to honor the original founders by changing the club’s colors back to red, white and black.
“Additionally, we have teamed up with various programs to give back to the Lahaina community, including beach clean-ups, charity walk participation and the building of a traditional canoe. Please visit our Facebook page for times and dates. Begin your journey and join the fun. We would love to see you in the wa`a!”
