Maui Region board of directors to discuss future of healthcare on Maui

WAILUKU – The Hawaii Health Systems Corporation (HHSC) Maui Region board of directors will hold two public meetings in December to provide an update on healthcare in Maui County.

The hearings will cover items related to the current state and future plans for the region’s three facilities: Maui Memorial Medical Center, Kula Hospital and Lanai Community Hospital. The meeting will also provide an update on impending transition of operations to Kaiser Permanente. Public testimony will be taken.

The meetings are scheduled for Thursday, Dec. 8, at 5 p.m.?in the Maui Memorial Medical Center Auditorium (street parking only), and Tuesday, Dec. 13, at 5 p.m.?in the Pukalani Pool Annex.

The Maui Region of HHSC serves over 11,000 inpatients and sees over 45,000 people in the emergency room each year. It employs over 1,500 employees in three hospitals on two islands.
