Pim to speak at remembrance of atomic bombings of Hiroshima and Nagasaki

LAHAINA – Maui’s annual remembrance of the atomic bombings of Hiroshima and Nagasaki will be held at historic Lahaina Jodo Mission at 12 Ala Moana St. on Sunday, Aug. 7.

Joam Evans Pim, director of the International Center for Global Non-killing, will speak on “Preventing Nuclear War from a Non-killing Perspective.”

From 5 to 5:30 p.m., attendees can learn origami crane-making and enjoy a performance by Maui Taiko.

The free, interfaith and intercultural program begins in the temple at 5:30 p.m. and includes a presentation by Lei’ohu Ryder and musical offerings.

Attendees are invited to stay for tea and refreshments at the beach pavilion after the program. For more information, visit mauipeace.org.
