Maui Friends of the Library to speak at Lahaina Sunset

By Staff | May 12, 2016

LAHAINA – On Tuesday, May 17, the Rotary Club of Lahaina Sunset invites the public to learn more about the Bookmobile, an initiative of Maui Friends of the Library (MFOL). Sara Foley, a director of MFOL, will speak along with the group’s president, John Tryggestad.

They will unveil the Bookmobile’s design and talk about the services it will provide for the entire island. They will also discuss the rich history of MFOL, a nonprofit formed 104 years ago to support Maui County libraries.

In 2012, both Foley and Tryggestad served as volunteer “general contractors and jack-of-all-trades experts” for the modernization of the Lahaina Public Library. The State of Hawaii recognized their efforts, along with 21 professional contractors, for the $300,000 modernization that was completed without public expense.

The Rotary Club of Lahaina Sunset’s community speaker series takes place during club meetings, which are held on the first, third and fifth Tuesday of the month at the Royal Lahaina Resort, Kaanapali, from 5 to 6:30 p.m. All are welcome to attend.
