Lahaina Town Clean Up set for Saturday
LAHAINA – Come show your support for Lahaina and participate in the 11th annual Lahaina Town Clean Up.
Groups will meet on Saturday, Sept. 26, from 9 a.m. to 1 p.m. at Kamehameha Iki Park at 525 Front St. next to the 505 Front Street center.
Registration will be held in the Surfrider Foundation tent. As many as 500 people have attended this single-day event to malama Lahaina.
If your students need any service hours, this is a great opportunity. They will be assisted in the cleanup by Surfrider, provided cold water from Tropic Water and treated to lunch by Pacific’O.
Many of the local surf schools have joined together to help organize and run this event. Maui Surf Clinics and Bully’s Surf School ‘Ohana will provide chaperones for this event and have some fun activities planned for participants after the cleanup ends.
Volcom also has a special surprise for every volunteer this year, so make sure to visit their tent.
This is a waste-free event. Volunteers are encouraged to bring gloves, water bottles, litter grabbers, small nets for cigarette butts and trucks to haul rubbish.
Cumulatively, in the past 11 years of this cleanup, more than 1,500 participants have joined in to remove some 50,000 pounds of rubbish.
Invite your friends, and call Maui Surf Clinics at 244-SURF for more information.
