Unique and antique items to be sold at Lahaina Restoration Foundation Yard Sale
LAHAINA – You can find “Something Old and Something New” at the first-ever Lahaina Restoration Foundation Yard Sale on Saturday, Aug. 29, at the Old Lahaina Prison located on the corner of Prison and Wainee streets. Gates open at 7 a.m. sharp, and the sale will close at 2 p.m. Cash, Visa and MasterCard will be accepted.
We will be selling a wide variety of furniture, antiques and fun collectibles – like a folding sink from a passenger train and hardware from the Brig Cathaginian – most all below the appraised value. We have a huge pile of five-inch-thick, synthetic rope – it could be used to line a garden path or pull a very heavy object out of a ditch.
In anticipation of some chilly weather (someday), we have two 1800s brass bed warmers (appraised at $250 each) and a brass fire screen appraised at $62.50. If that cold weather never comes, they make great wall dcor.
How about a unique pair of lounge chairs for your lanai? We have a pair of rosewood, woven rattan lounge chairs reportedly off a cruise ship (circa 1880 to 1929). There might be a bit of re-caning needed on one of them, but that is a fun project!
Do you love the Victorian era in all its splendor? Then perhaps a Victorian purple upholstered chair is your style. We have several in various states of repair appraised at $50-$250 each.
Is ivory your thing? We have two walrus tusks (appraised at $3,000 for the pair) and one sperm whale tooth appraised at $400. We have the documentation that show it is legal to sell these.
When the Brig Carthaginian was scuttled in 2005, all the rigging, etc., was removed from the ship. So, it is now for sale. We have large blocks, rigging wire, baling pins and many other items that would be great if you are restoring an old whaling ship, creating a nautical-themed back yard or just seeking a souvenir.
Did you always want to purchase a Plantation Days shirt in 2011 but never got around to it? Good thing you waited, because now all brand new event tees and tanks shirts are $5 each in sizes from S to XXXL. We also have new items such as fun holiday guest towels, magnets of Lahaina historic sites and much more. Do your Christmas shopping early!
All proceeds from the Yard Sale will benefit Lahaina Restoration Foundation’s free cultural programs. Hot coffee and cold water will be served all day. Free parking is available one block south on Wainee Street at the Lahaina Hongwanji Mission, or the public parking lot at the corner of Front and Prison streets.
