LAHAINA – Enjoy the sweet sounds of the Maui trio Meheu at Lahaina Restoration Foundation’s free monthly Hawaiian Music Series concert on Thursday, Aug. 27, from 6 to 7:30 p.m. in front of the Baldwin Home Museum at the corner of Dickenson and Front streets in Lahaina.

The young men of Meheu – Grant Kono, Maleko Lorenzo and Greg Juan – will take you on a journey to each island of Hawaii with traditional Hawaiian leo ki’eki’e (falsetto singing) and three-part harmonies that have become a trademark in the islands and worldwide.

They perform on ukulele, guitar and bass. The three musicians met in college on Oahu and formed the trio. Maleko and Greg were in the Kamehameha Schools Maui Hawaiian Music Ensemble and have performed as Ho’eu, while Grant won the 2014 Richard Ho’opi’i Leo Ki’eki’e Falsetto Contest.

Limited seating is provided for kupuna; blankets, mats and low beach chairs are welcome. This ongoing Hawaiian Music Series program is supported by the Hawaii Tourism Authority and the County of Maui Office of Economic Development.
