KAANAPALI – Maui youth are once again invited to bait up and cast their poles at the seventh annual Keiki Tilapia Fishing Tournament hosted by Maui Electric Co. and Kaanapali Golf Course on Sunday, Sept. 27, from 7:30 to 9 a.m. at the Kaanapali Golf Course pond.

Registration forms for the event, which benefits Maui United Way, are available at the Maui Electric Customer Service Lobby, New Maui Fishing Supply, Maui Sporting Goods, Kaanapali Golf Course Logo Shop and online at “http://www.mauielectric.com”>www.mauielectric.com.

Open to youth ages two to 18, the registration fee is $20 per participant and includes an event T-shirt. Registration will be open until the 600-participant cap is met, or Monday, Aug. 17 – whichever comes first.

During this “tag and release” event, youth will be vying for the biggest tilapia of the day in their age category.

Last year, more than 100 Maui Electric employees and their families helped to organize and volunteer at this event that raised nearly $15,000 for Maui United Way, a non-profit organization that raises and invests corporate and individual donations in 40 health and human services partner agencies and 41 programs to benefit our Maui County community.
