Spring Wahine Fishing Tourney set for Saturday
LAHAINA – Lahaina Yacht Club (LYC) will host its annual Spring Wahine Fishing Tournament on Saturday, May 30, from 7 a.m. to 4 p.m. in Maui County waters.
The deadline to register is Friday, May 29, between 3 and 5 p.m. at LYC.
Lahaina Yacht Club will kick off the event with a mandatory captains’ meeting on Friday at 5:30 p.m., where captains, crew and anglers will receive three-day LYC guest passes, Spring Wahine T-shirts and banquet tickets.
The awards banquet will be held on Sunday, May 31, at LYC from 4 to 7 p.m. with a no-host bar (no minors allowed). Additional banquet tickets can be purchased the day of the event.
LYC is bringing back the attraction of the wahine tournament. In the past, it has been a fun-filled event. Last year, there were only six boats entered. The ladies still had a great time, LYC reported.
With a lot more publicity this year, LYC is expecting a much greater turnout. There will be prizes for the three biggest fish.
Ladies, go round up your girlfriends, find someone who has a boat and get in this event. The entry is $200 per boat and up to four anglers. Each additional angler costs $50. All wahine on board are considered an angler.
Registration packets are available at LYC or via www.lyc.us.
LYC plans to have another contest in the fall on Oct. 30, the day before the Lahaina Jackpot Tournament, if there are enough interested ladies.
