LAC invites community to help with Fourth of July fundraising
LAHAINA – LahainaTown Action Committee invites the Maui community to take part in the fundraising effort for the 2015 fireworks display celebrating the Fourth of July in Lahaina.
The fundraising goal is $50,000 for the event; currently, the committee – members include Joan McKelvey, Fran Mitsumura, Becky Lennon and Tambara Garrick – have $30,000 in pledges.
“We urge local businesses to support by donating and also decorating their storefronts with flags and buntings. There will also be more activities throughout Front Street this year,” said Lynn Donovan, LAC executive director.
The deadline for company logos to be placed on the official Lahaina poster will be June 12.
Fundraising progress can be tracked on the two goal banners located in Lahaina Town at Shaw Street and Lahainaluna Road along Honoapiilani Highway.
LahainaTown Action Committee hopes to increase the length of the fireworks show from its usual ten minutes. LAC President Sne Patel said, “We want this year’s event to be bigger and better than ever. It will take the community and businesses’ support to help make that happen.”
Donation boxes will be available in town at local merchants, including First Hawaiian Mortgage, MauiGrown Coffee Company Store and Hard Rock Cafe.
Donations for the Fourth of July event can be made by calling the Lahaina Visitor Center at 667-9193 or by mail to 648 Wharf St., Lahaina, HI 96761.
