Event to support initial operating capital reserves for new West Maui Hospital
KAANAPALI – The West Maui Hospital Foundation Inc. will hold a fundraiser, “The West Maui Hospital Train is Moving… All Aboard,” on Saturday, March 14, at The Westin Maui Resort & Spa.
Enjoy an evening with guest host and keynote speaker Mayor Alan Arakawa and the West Maui Hospital Development Team.
A silent auction and cocktail hour will be held from 6 to 7 p.m., followed by a buffet dinner with live entertainment from 7 to 10 p.m.
General admission tickets for this aloha attire event are $175 per person.
All net proceeds of the fundraiser will go toward the initial operating capital reserves required for the new West Maui Hospital and Medical Center.
The hospital is proposed in Kaanapali on 14.99 acres on Kakaalaneo Road above Honoapiilani Highway.
Plans include a 25-bed critical access hospital with a 24-hour emergency room, three operating rooms, 24-hour pharmacy, laboratory, and radiology services in addition to a 40-bed skilled nursing facility, 40-unit assisted living facility, up to two 30,000-square-foot medical office buildings/clinics, and a future 40-bed drug and alcohol rehabilitation facility.
Foundation board members include Brian H. Hoyle, Howard Hanzawa, JoAnne Johnson-Winer, and Dr. Alfred Arensdorf.
Hoyle provided an update on the project: “Over the next three months, we will have our Maui (County) Council hearings for final approval of all the land use and development entitlements required for the West Maui Hospital and Medical Center project.
“We expect completion of all site and building plans for the 25-bed West Maui Hospital and 40-bed West Maui Nursing Facility/40-unit Assisted Living Facility by September, with site development permits this fall and building construction to start in the spring of 2016.”
Newport Hospital Corp. will develop the center, Critical Access Healthcare LLC will manage it, and the 501(c)(3) nonprofit West Maui Hospital Foundation Inc. will operate the hospital.
A variety of sponsorships are available for “The West Maui Hospital Train is Moving… All Aboard.” For more information on the benefit and project, visit www.WestMauiHospitalFoundation.org.
