Meetings to explore county economy in 2015, upcoming Lahaina events

WAIKAPU – Paul Brewbaker will discuss his economic forecast for this year at the 2015 Economic Update Luncheon on Friday, Jan. 9.
Bank of Hawaii and the Maui Chamber of Commerce are presenting the event at the King Kamehameha Golf Club’s Waikapu Ballroom from noon to 2 p.m.
This entertaining annual presentation is open to Maui Chamber of Commerce members and the public.
Brewbaker is the principal of TZ Economics, a consulting firm involved in nonfinancial corporate work and litigation support in Hawaii.
His background in research on the Hawaii economy and financial risk analytics stem from a 25-year affiliation with Bank of Hawaii, concluding as its chief economist.

In other news, LahainaTown Action Committee will hold its Annual Meeting on Monday, Jan. 26. The public is invited to gather at the Pioneer Inn Courtyard at 5 p.m. Light pupus will be offered with refreshments, and a no-host bar will be available.
LAC invites West Side residents to come meet its board members and discuss ideas for the 2015-16 calendar.
After registration at 5 p.m., LAC President Sne Patel will speak at 5:15 p.m. Guest speaker Sen. Roz Baker will take the stage at 5:30 p.m., followed by the election of board members.
LahainaTown Action Committee promotes, encourages and preserves the historical, cultural, social and commercial vitality of Lahaina, the town and destination.
LAC also coordinates Lahaina festivals and ongoing events, and operates the Lahaina Visitor Center in the Old Lahaina Courthouse.
