Mayor, West Maui lawmakers to provide updates at WMTA meeting
LAHAINA – The West Maui Taxpayers Association (WMTA) will hold its Annual Members’ Meeting on Thursday, Jan. 8, 2015, at Lahaina Civic Center.
The public is invited to this informative event. Akaku: Maui Community Television will tape the meeting for a later broadcast.
Confirmed guest speakers include Sen. Roz Baker; Rep. Angus McKelvey; Mayor Alan Arakawa; West Maui County Councilwoman Elle Cochran; Brian Hoyle and Michelle Berner of Newport Hospital Corp. and the West Maui Hospital Foundation; Wesley Lo of Maui Memorial Medical Center, who will discuss health care on Maui; and Stanford Carr, president of Stanford Carr Development, who will give an update on Kahoma Village.
Last year, nearly 300 attendees enjoyed the interesting community presentations on the WMTA’s top issues, including the West Maui Hospital & Medical Center and affordable housing.
Complimentary food service provided by WMTA will begin at 5 p.m., followed by a short business meeting at 5:30 p.m.
The major purpose of the meeting is to have elected officials address issues of interest to the West Maui community, and to host special presentations on major area projects.
