Lahaina church to host ‘Blue Christmas Service’
LAHAINA – Holy Innocents Episcopal Church will host a “Blue Christmas Service” on Sunday, Dec. 21, at 5:00 p.m.
Christmas is usually a festive season of joy celebrated with family and friends. But there are times when we may not feel so joyful at Christmas.
Many in our community have experienced losses – the death of a loved one, divorce or loss of relationships, loss of a job and the financial security that came with it, loss of a home in these difficult economic times, or a bad diagnosis for one’s self or a loved one.
There are many burdens people carry, even at Christmas time.
The quiet half-hour service, according to the church, “allows each of us to be honest with ourselves and with God; to acknowledge our losses and feelings as we ask for God’s help and care. December 21st is the longest night of the year and an appropriate time to pray as we await the light of Christ to shine in our lives.”
All are invited without regard to one’s faith.
