Soroptimists induct new member
LAHAINA – Soroptimist International offers programs that improve the lives of women and girls through social and economic empowerment.
Its major program, the Soroptimist Women’s Opportunity Awards, provides cash grants for women seeking to improve their lives with the help of additional education and training. Each year, about $1.6 million is disbursed through this award-winning program globally.
Soroptimist International of West Maui was chartered on March 1, 1975, and recently added a new member. On Nov. 20, SIWM inducted Lahaina resident Michele Potts into the club.
Potts is in the health care field and has been serving the residents of Maui for 17 years. She is currently in the case management department at Maui Memorial Medical Center.
