Theatre Theatre Maui has new board president
LAHAINA – Theatre Theatre Maui (TTM) last week announced changes to its board of directors. Last month, TTM Board Member and former Treasurer Annabehl Sinclair-Delaney was voted in as the new board president of the Lahaina group.
The previous board president, Penny Wakida, who has been involved with TTM for about 20 years and first served as board president in 1994 after serving as pro-tem president in 1993, has stepped into the role of treasurer, formerly held by Sinclair-Delaney.
The two have switched roles, and “both women were phenomenal and dedicated in their positions,” according to TTM Executive Director Angela Thompson, “and TTM has all the confidence in the world that they will continue to thrive in their new positions.
“Penny has provided her unwavering leadership and support of our mission for the past 20 years, which is quite an awesome commitment of time and energy,” noted Louisa Shelton, former executive director who returned to the board last year as secretary for the organization.
“The ‘big shoes’ she has worn are a perfect fit for Annabehl with her proven abilities and genuine passion for the theatre arts.”
Since its inception in 1991, TTM has provided a full spectrum of hands-on theatre experiences for the children and adults of the West Maui community while cultivating and nurturing local artists in the production of their original works.
This fall, TTM teamed up again with Lahaina Intermediate School and the Lahaina Complex After-School Tutor Project, with Kristi Scott teaching after-school drama sessions to 14 talented and enthusiastic LIS students.
The drama program will culminate in the spring with an after-school performance of a short play written by former TTM student Heidi Turner, keeping within TTM’s mission of providing hands-on theatre experiences to children and adults of West Maui.
