LAHAINA – Thousands of residents and visitors came out to enjoy two days of fun, food and nostalgia at this year’s Lahaina Plantation Days on Oct. 24-25.

Among the many festivities was the announcement of this year’s restaurant booth winners: Kahana Sands Restaurant (“Best of Show”), Sangrita Grill & Cantina (“Best Salad”), Kaanapali Beach Hotel (“Best Appetizer”), Kahana Sands Restaurant (“Best Meat”), Leilani’s on the Beach (“Best Seafood”), Roselani Ice Cream (“Best Dessert”), Royal Lahaina Resort (“Judges’ Award”), Sangrita Grill & Cantina (“Best Decorated Booth” on Friday) and Bubba Gump Shrimp Co. (“Best Decorated Booth” on Saturday).

“This event is very close to our hearts, as each year it offers a wonderful opportunity for residents to connect with their plantation roots,” said Theo Morrison, executive director of Lahaina Restoration Foundation. “Whether it’s finding your own photo among the pictures displayed in the Plantation Life Tent or helping to update the West Maui plantation camp maps, the interest in our community’s plantation era remains strong.”

In an effort to perpetuate our island’s plantation legacy, Lahaina Restoration Foundation is currently seeking photos of actual homes in the West Maui plantation camps. These images will be used for historical displays and the foundation’s photo archives. To submit a photo, call 661-3262 or e-mail info@lahaina restoration.org.
