Macedo wins poster contest

Ronaldo Macedo’s painting “Tita and Friends” won the 26th Lahaina Poster Contest.
LAHAINA – Lahaina artist Ronaldo Macedo won Lahaina’s annual Poster Contest for his painting “Tita and Friends.”
Now in its 26th year, the poster contest sponsored by LahainaTown Action Committee and Lahaina Arts Society offers a grand prize of $2,500. The winning art becomes the limited edition official Lahaina Poster for 2015.
The Lahaina Arts Society Award went to Earl Thompson for “A Glimpse of Paradise.” His painting also won the People’s Choice Award sponsored by the Pioneer Inn.
The Most Promising Artist Award sponsored by Cool Cat Cafe went to Ian Tremewan for “Sail to Lahaina.”
The Honorable Mention Award sponsored by The McKelvey Family went to Carlton Kinkade for “Sugar Cane Train.”
All of the entries are on sale in the Old Jail Gallery located at the Old Lahaina Courthouse in Banyan Tree Park. The show will end on Sept. 1.
The 2015 official Lahaina Poster is limited to 1,000 prints and will be available starting Dec. 6, 2014. These posters are a popular item for art enthusiasts on Maui and around the world.
The winning poster will be sold at the Lahaina Visitor Center, via www.visitlahaina.com and at fine galleries throughout the town.
