By Staff | May 29, 2014

Lahainaluna High School seniors recently received scholarships from the Rotary Club of Lahaina at the Senior Scholarship & Awards Program.

LAHAINA – Art Ortiz, president of the Rotary Club of Lahaina, announced that his club, in conjunction with the Hawaii Rotary Youth Foundation and Lahaina Rotary Youth Foundation, is awarding $28,500 in college scholarships to graduating seniors from Lahainaluna High School, Lanai High School, Maui Preparatory Academy and Molokai High School.

These awards are the latest in a long-standing Rotary tradition of supporting the education of youth.

According to Ortiz, the scholarship awards are possible only because of the generous support of the West Maui community.

The primary funding for the club scholarships came from the Spring Festival held on March 29, 2014, and the Rotary Golf Tournament held in the fall of 2013.

The Rotary Club of Lahaina is truly grateful to the attendees and sponsors of these events, and wishes to give special thanks to the many donors whose gifts and contributions brought in the funds for this year’s scholarships.

The Rotary Club of Lahaina thanked the Gold Sponsors of the Spring Festival: Casco Wealth Management, Cutco Cutlery, Budweiser Brewing Company, AAAAA Rent a Space, Hawaiian Style Event Rentals, Hawaii Inspection Group, Joe Pluta Realty, KDLX Radio, Maui Electric Company, Mila Salvador & Friends, MSI Media Productions, Paradise Grill, Spitfire Farms Event Planners and the Lahaina Complex After School Tutoring Program.

Rotary Club of Lahaina fundraising events are fun and support good causes. The next event is the fifth annual “Savor the Sunset” on Aug. 22, 2014, at the Royal Lahaina Resort, and the second annual golf tournament on Oct. 25, 2014.

Mark your calendars and prepare to have a good time for a good cause.
