LAHAINA – Lahaina Youth Fast Pitch Softball Inc. recently awarded a $500 college scholarship to Lahainaluna High School graduate Tracey-Anne Panlasigui.
Panlasigui is pictured with the Lahaina Girls 12U and 14U teams this year, along with board member Rose Hodgins and Rayleen Kama, Panlasigui’s softball coach when she was ten.
“Tracey was like my secret pet, which you not supposed to have… whenever I told the girls to run, I would get all this lip, but Tracey was so quiet. She would just put down her mitt and go run,” recalled Kama.
With Panlasigui playing second base, the Lahaina Girls 10s team won the state tournament in Honolulu.
Panlasigui played for Lahaina Girls Softball from age 9-14 and for the Lahainaluna High School softball program for four years (including varsity since her sophomore year) and the Hawaii Pearls.
While playing for four years with the Lady Lunas, Panlasigui maintained a cumulative 3.8 grade point average.
She has been accepted to three colleges and plans to attend the University of Hawaii at Manoa this fall.
