Kaanapali Makai Watch to host beach cleanup

Kaanapali Makai Watch and The Westin Kaanapali Ocean Resort Villas coordinated a beach cleanup in North Kaanapali during the 2013 International Coastal Cleanup.
KAANAPALI – To celebrate Earth Day, Kaanapali Makai Watch will host and conduct a beach cleanup in North Kaanapali, meeting at the Kahekili Beach Park Pavilion at 9 a.m. on Saturday, April 26.
Cleanup materials and water will be supplied. Participants are asked to bring their own sun protection and reusable water bottle. After the cleanup, there will be an opportunity to snorkel and conduct a reef survey, followed by a beach potluck.
With the coordination team and partners from the Coral Reef Alliance, West Maui Ridge to Reef Initiative, Division of Aquatic Resources and others, this will be a fun and informal opportunity to participate and learn about more ways to get involved in watershed stewardship efforts in West Maui.
Participants will receive a free West Maui Kumuwai T-shirt, to show they are joining the movement for ocean health.
The scope of the cleanup will be expanded by a team from the Westin Kaanapali Ocean Resort Villas, which is coordinating a cleanup for staff and guests in partnership with Kaanapali Makai Watch.
