Accreditation group seeks community input on UHMC
KAHULUI – The Western Association of Colleges and Schools (WASC) will be on Maui the first week in April to evaluate the renewal of the University of Hawaii Maui College’s accreditation status.
Due to the development of several bachelor degree programs, UHMC now reports to the senior division of WASC. This will be the first formal review period within that division.
All segments of the community are invited to participate in the process. Short sessions will be held on the main campus in Kahului, but two will also be broadcast to each outreach center.
West Maui residents interested in participating may attend the videoconferenced meeting by coming to the Lahaina Education Center at 60 Kenui St. (in the Front Street Apartment complex) during the appropriate time.
The public segments will be held as follows: Open Community Meeting, April 2, 3:30 to 4:15 p.m.; Employers of UHMC Graduates, April 4, 11:15 a.m. to noon (must attend in Kahului); Open Student Meeting, April 4, 1 to 1:45 p.m.
All meetings can be attended in person on the UH Maui main campus. Additionally, the community and student meetings can be attended via videoconference at the Lahaina Education Center.
