All preschool to eighth grade-bound students in the community are invited to Sacred Hearts School’s Open House on Saturday, Feb. 22, from 8:30 to 11 a.m.

LAHAINA – Sacred Hearts School will host an Open House on Saturday, Feb. 22. All preschool to eighth grade-bound students in the community are invited to the event, which is open to the public.

The event begins at 8:30 and ends at 11 a.m.

For the first time ever, there will be a drawing for several $500 tuition awards for the 2014-15 school year. Parents must check in at 8:30 a.m. and be present at the drawing at the end of the event in order to participate.

Sacred Hearts students outperform the nation’s kids in standardized testing, and more than 90 percent of its graduates go to college. (The national average is 66 percent and average for the State of Hawaii is 53 percent.)

Sacred Hearts’ philosophy statement on the school website (www.sacredheartsschool.net) sums up the approach to teaching at the school: “We believe that each child is born with a gift. As teachers, it is our role to help uncover that gift and inspire our children to flourish and reach their full potential. We believe that children learn best when they are having fun and that keiki need room to express themselves creatively in order to thrive. We teach our students to reach for the stars.”

More than one-third of Sacred Hearts students receive financial aid. The school believes that a good quality education should be available to all children.

Financial aid applications are available at the school office. The deadline to submit the application is March 7.

Sacred Hearts School registration for 2014-15 opens Feb. 11. There is a $100 tuition discount for registering by March 21.
