Front Street decorated with new Christmas wreaths

By Staff | Dec 12, 2013

The brand new Christmas wreaths are up on Front Street.

LAHAINA – LahainaTown Action Committee this year took on a project to replace Lahaina’s aging Christmas wreaths, which were falling apart after 25 years of use.

The committee headed up by Joan McKelvey, Connie Sutherland, Fran Mitsumura, Donna Soares and LAC Executive Director Lynn Donovan approached West Side businesses and organizations to buy new wreaths to decorate Front Street for the holiday season.

The West Maui community stepped up and bought more than 60 new wreaths.

Committee members announced, “Mahalo nui loa to the following for supporting our community in contributing to the purchase of Christmas wreaths for our town of Lahaina, which are now in place.

“As you know, the past wreaths were 25 years old and almost disintegrated, but they have stood us well. Hopefully, the new ones will last another 25 years, and the tradition of dressing Front Street will continue on.”
