‘Life is Sweet’ to support Best Buddies Hawaii

Three Lahainaluna High School Best Buddies students were on a winning dessert team with Chef Natalie Wilkinson at the 2012 event.
WAILEA – Dessert lovers have more than one good reason to attend The Shops at Wailea’s fourth annual “Life is Sweet” event.
To mark the occasion, Wailea’s top chefs will compete to create a signature dessert for 2013.
The public is invited to sample the entries as part of a community fundraiser for Best Buddies Hawaii.
The celebrity hosts for this year’s event are actress Maureen McCormick (a.k.a. “Marcia” from the classic 1970s television sitcom “The Brady Bunch”) and comedian/actor Andy Bumatai.
This “Life is Sweet” celebration, sponsored by Waileaa Beach Marriott and The Shops at Wailea, will be held on Saturday, Nov. 9, from 2 to 5 p.m. at the shopping plaza.
The event features delicious desserts and samplings of savory entrees created by some of the most renowned chefs from South Maui resorts and restaurants.
Last year’s entrants were Wailea Beach Marriott, Grand Wailea Resort, The Fairmont Wailea, Gannon’s-Joe’s Bar & Grill, Longhi’s Wailea, Tommy Bahama, Ruth’s Chris Steak House, Merriman’s Monkeypod Kitchen, Fabiani’s and Mulligans on the Blue.
There will also be live Hawaiian music; a silent auction with great deals on two-night stays at Maui’s finest resorts, island activities, gifts, products and services; and a complimentary wine-tasting party with pupus, where guests can meet and mingle with the celebrity judges.
Tickets for “Life is Sweet” are $50 per person (only 200 available) and can be reserved by calling the Best Buddies office at 242-6962 or visiting www.bestbuddieshawaii.org.
