The Outlets of Maui, Lahaina sets Grand Opening date

The 148,000-square-foot Outlets of Maui, Lahaina is under construction at the former Lahaina Center site at 900 Front St.
LAHAINA – The Outlets of Maui, Lahaina – the only outlet center in the world on the oceanfront in a historic location – is slated to open on Nov. 21 in anticipation of Thanksgiving promotions, followed by a Grand Opening Celebration Holiday Open House on Dec. 6 from 5:30 to 8 p.m.
The first-ever outlet center on Maui and the second outlet location in the State of Hawaii conceived and developed by The Outlets of Maui 1 LLC is under construction at the former Lahaina Center site at 900 Front St. between Papalaua and Wainee streets in Lahaina Town.
The Outlets of Maui will be home to some 35 retail and restaurant retailers, including Coach, Tommy Hilfiger, Brooks Brothers, Adidas, Guess, Calvin Klein, Carter’s Babies & Kids, Izod, Lucky Brand, Gap, Banana Republic, Michael Kors, Crocs, Kay Jewelers, Perfumania, Skechers, The Luggage Factory, and Wilson’s Leather.
These stores will join Hard Rock Caf, Ruth’s Chris Steakhouse, Hilo Hattie Outlet, ABC Stores, Cold Stone Creamery, Maui Sunglass, Warren & Annabelle’s Magic and Wyndham Vacation Resorts of the former Lahaina Center.
Honolulu Builders LLC, a premier general contractor in Hawaii, began work in early 2013 on the developer’s multimillion dollar major revitalization of the center. The retailers’ contractors and construction crews are now busy working on the store spaces, which range in size from 800 to 17,000 square feet.
The Outlets of Maui’s lead architect is Eight Inc., a noted international architectural firm that has worked in collaboration with Clifford Planning, the architect of record.
The center’s ten existing buildings were gutted and rebuilt, receiving significant architectural enhancements that respect the historic character and vibrancy of Lahaina while recognizing modern day retail expectations.
Each store will have its own paint scheme and other features that make it unique.
Design elements such as a village-style circulation plan, teak furniture with large caf umbrellas, new directional signage and the iconic clock tower are fully integrated into the overall design plan.
Rainbow shower trees provide shade, and the new “oasis” seating areas enhanced by commissioned artworks are meant to encourage shoppers to sit down, enjoy a meal or treat and take their time.
Raspberry Productions LLC created the integrated branding design and marketing for The Outlets of Maui, Lahaina. The coordinated branding efforts include strong identity development for the new outlets as a premier destination in the Pacific Rim.
The marketing team and retailers are working together on key visitor industry partnerships with the cruise and resort industries. Social media, online marketing and advertising, events and community involvement will help invite residents and visitors to the outlet center.
According to The Outlets of Maui 1 LLC, the unique cultural history of Lahaina and Maui are integral to defining this center as one-of-a-kind in the world.
The site’s easy walking distance, the largest parking area in Lahaina, resort and cruise ship bus drop-off, and new restaurant amenities such as Ono Gelato Caf and PI Artisan Pizzeria along Front Street will enhance this newly defined, globally renowned outlet shopping experience.
