Three-day Moon Festival slated at Wo Hing Museum

Lahaina Restoration Foundation will hold a Chinese Moon Festival from Sept. 19-21 at the Wo Hing Museum on Front Street. Cultural exhibits and displays, as well as hands-on activities — including knot tying with Brenda Wong (pictured) — will be available for all ages to enjoy.
LAHAINA – The Chinese Moon Festival commemorates one of the most important Chinese holidays, when the moon is most bright and full, indicating a time of satisfaction and abundance.
A three-day Chinese Moon Festival starts Thursday, Sept. 19, at the Wo Hing Museum on Front Street.
Hours are 10 a.m. to 4 p.m. on Thursday; 1 to 8 p.m. on Friday, Sept. 20; and 10 a.m. to 4 p.m. on Saturday, Sept. 21.
During the festival, Chef Gregory “Bonz” Heath will conduct cooking demonstrations and share his culinary “Poly-Asian Noodle Bowl” featuring a unique blend of herbs and spices from his company, Lahaina Spice.
Authentic dim sum will be sold by Fu Lin Restaurant, as Polynesian Farms presents an array of organic fruits and vegetables at the Farmers’ Corner.

Gifts and souvenirs will be available for purchase in the museums’ “Mandarin Market,” which also offers the seasons’ most popular item: Moon Cakes.
Cultural exhibits and displays, as well as hands-on activities – including knot tying with Brenda Wong – will be available for all ages to enjoy.
Qigong demonstrations and a special Moon Goddess presentation will be led by Cory Williams and Dr. Busaba Yip-Douglas.
Live music will be provided by Hong-Zhu and Karl Jacobs, as they perform on the ancient Chinese instrument “Erhu.”
