Imua Family Services to hold drop-in fair
KAHULUI – On Saturday, Sept. 7, Imua Family Services and its team of specialized children’s therapists will host “E Holomua Kakou-Moving Forward Together,” a free drop-in fair, at Queen Ka’ahumanu Center.
Families can meet and speak with therapists regarding their children’s strengths and any possible areas of concerns, growth, behavior and development.
If parents are unsure of developmental milestones their children should be reaching, this is the perfect opportunity to find out if their child is on track.
Around center stage, Imua will set up individual talk story tables, where parents can have private, one-on-one conversations with Imua’s highly trained staff.
On stage, Auntie Ro (Rochelle Dunning) and Uncle Deano (Dean Wong) will entertain with puppets and sing-a-longs. Special appearances will include Maui Taiko on stage at 11:30 a.m. and Hello Kitty both in the morning and in the afternoon.
Speech Language Pathologist Ashley Jung will be available to communicate in American Sign Language and provide information to families who need to learn to communicate via sign language and participate in ongoing class support.
Other Imua therapists on-hand to answer questions will include occupational therapists, speech-language pathologists, physical therapists, special instruction teachers and Imua’s Care Coordination Services staff.
The event focuses on children from birth through age six milestones and development. Each child/family that receives a developmental screening from Imua’s team will receive a coupon for a free train ride on the Cubby Caboose that day.
