‘Savor the Sunset’ tickets selling fast

By Staff | Jul 11, 2013

LAHAINA – Building on the success of “Savor the Sunset” benefits that attracted a combined 800 people the last three years, the Rotary Club of Lahaina says tickets are selling briskly for the fourth annual benefit to support community needs.

Proceeds from the July 19 benefit, which includes a wine tasting, heavy pupus from Royal Lahaina Resort chefs, a fashion show and music, will go to community projects, including completion of the final phase of the Lahaina Public Library restoration project cosponsored with Maui Friends of the Library.

Proceeds will be split between Rotary service-above-self projects and to provide seed money for the club’s library landscaping work, to bring Native Hawaiian plants to the library’s front lawn.

Rotary and MFOL will seek additional funds from other benefactors to complete landscaping work after necessary permits are obtained, according to “Savor the Sunset” Chair Liz May.

Event highlights include a fashion show from Passion 4 Fashion Boutique, music from KCK Entertainment, dancing, wine and Italian cuisine.

Silent auction items are sought. “Resorts, restaurants and other Lahaina businesses have been most generous in providing items in previous years, with the hope they will again participate in 2013,” May observed.

Tickets for the 6 to 10 p.m. event on the Royal Lahaina’s spacious ocean lawn are $50 in advance and $60 at the door. Tickets are available from club members, by calling 5A Rent A Space at 669-5200 or from Passion 4 Fashion Boutique in Lahaina Gateway.
