Soroptimist International of West Maui to introduce Health and Fitness Expo

By Staff | Jul 4, 2013

WEST MAUI – Soroptimist International of West Maui is a professional women’s organization dedicated to improving the lives of women and girls in the local community and around the world.

The Soroptimists are widely known for organizing the Lahaina Keiki Halloween Parade for the last 34 years, the club’s Women of Opportunity Award and annual scholarships for local students.

This summer, the organization is starting another community-oriented program with the goal of promoting a healthy lifestyle.

The first annual Soroptimist International of West Maui interactive Health and Fitness Expo will take place on the grounds of Maui Preparatory Academy in Napili on July 13 from 8 a.m. to noon.

The event will kickoff with a blessing and one-mile cross country walk/run, followed by a one-mile Cross Fit fitness challenge, plus demonstrations on the main stage throughout the event featuring yoga, Pilates and Zumba demonstrations.

This is truly an event for all ages. A Keiki Zone will feature a children’s obstacle course with a mini cross fit challenge, bouncy slip and slide and face painting.

Vendors’ booths will include a farmers’ market, various healthy food items, products and services related to a healthy lifestyle, and a farm-to-table food presentation.

The festivities will end with a grand prize giveaway for a two-night stay at the Waikiki Miramar and Waikiki Park Hotels in Honolulu.

So set your clocks, get up, get dressed and join the Soroptimists for a walk! The first 200 families to attend will receive a free gift.

This event is brought to you by Soroptimist International of West Maui, KAOI Visionary Related Entertainment, Plantation House Restaurant, KCK Entertainment, Hawaiian Styles Equipment Rental, Lahaina Cross Fit, Fidelity National Title, Napili Kai Beach Resort and the Kapalua Spa.
