Lahaina residents asked to report vandalism, graffiti
LAHAINA – As a centennial project in 2000, the Rotary Club of Lahaina Sunrise installed lawn, pavers and benches in what was formerly a dirt lot next to the Prison Street parking lot across from King Kamehameha III School.
This area is used daily by the students while they wait to be picked up after school. Additionally, the well-maintained green area adds beauty to Front Street.
Recently, the area has been vandalized by someone cutting out sections of the grass. The most recent theft occurred last week.
Lahaina Restoration Foundation maintains this area and many of the other green parks and open spaces in Lahaina.
Lahaina Restoration Foundation crews work Monday through Friday from 7 a.m. to 3 p.m.
LRF asks the public to report any suspicious landscaping activity that is occurring in the evening or on weekends to the police.
Additionally, there has been an increase in graffiti around town. Anyone observing that activity is also urged to report it to the police.
