Henry Kaleialoha Allen’s next sail with the cast will be from Vancouver to Hawaii on the Zandaam. The cruise ship will visit Lahaina on April 26 and provide a boost to the Maui economy.

WEST MAUI – Recognized as a “Living Legend of Hawaiian Music” by the state, Henry Kaleialoha Allen’s talents have been taken up by the Holland America Cruise Ships Line.

Henry and Paki Allen have produced a Cultural Enrichment Series for all of the company’s Hawaii sailings, as well as South Pacific cruises starting soon.

The program includes presentations on ukulele; Hawaiian steel guitar; surfing; Papahanaumokuakea, the Northwestern Hawaiian Islands; Hawaiian cooking classes; and exotic fresh flower lei-making.

Henry is backed by the ship’s bands and orchestra for a big concert, which also features hula maidens and guests who have learned the hula on board.

The Holland ships are sold out for each of these programs. Westerdaam will debark at Lahaina Harbor on April 14, with 1,965 guests getting off to tour and visit Maui.

“Holland has a regular presence in Hawaii, seasonal in the fall and spring each year, and is increasing its sails due to the popularity of this unique and one-of-a-kind program on board with Henry and Paki Allen,” noted Henry’s wife, Sherron.

Recognized as “The Master Artist” of the Hawaiian steel guitar and Hawaiian music by the Hawaii State Foundation on Culture and the Arts and Hawaii Academy of Recording Artists, Henry created the Maui Hawaiian Steel Guitar Festival.
