U`i Lani Salon and Spa handled hair and make-up, and Nagasako Designs provided jewelry for the girls.

LAHAINA – Lahainaluna High School students hit the runway on March 1 during their annual Prom Expo held in Hale Pa’ina on campus.

More than 30 student models sashayed in this year’s latest prom fashions to a packed audience of students and teachers.

The event was put on by the school’s Passion 4 Fashion Club under the direction of club President Kaegil Concepcion and with the help of the club’s advisor, Librarian Tara Otomo.

Dresses and tuxedos modeled by the students were provided by Elly’s Formal Wear and Bridal and Passion 4 Fashion Boutique.

The girls were made glamorous with flawless make-up and beautiful hair styles by U`i Lani Salon and Spa, while Nagasako Designs completed their gorgeous looks with stunning jewelry created from real flower petals.

More than 30 students modeled this year’s latest prom fashions to a packed audience of students and teachers.

Otomo stated that the expo, which has been held for more than eight years now, enables the students to “build relationships with the Maui community and allows them to practice their communication skills.

“The students involved in planning the Prom Expo learn how to speak with businesses, work with others, manage time, event plan and advertise.” These are all necessary skills for the students to have in their future endeavors.

The expo highlights local businesses, provides students with important expertise and also offers a sneak peek of what their special night will hold.
