Maui Jam will perform in Campbell Park during Second Friday.

LAHAINA – Learn the history of slack key music, take part in a chicken wing eating contest and donate nonperishable food to the Maui Food Bank at Lahaina Second Friday on Jan. 11 from 6 to 9 p.m.

The town party features live music, history, culture and Lahaina’s famous Art Night on Front Street.

Savor the tastes of Lahaina’s many fine restaurants, which will offer specials and discounts.

The cast of ‘Ulalena will perform an opening blessing for the event at 6 p.m. at the sea wall across from Hard Rock Cafe.

This month’s Concert in the Park presented by LahainaTown Action Committee in Campbell Park across from the Pioneer Inn will feature live Hawaiian music with Maui Jam (Al Nip, Lance Tokushima, Geri Valdriz and Donn Mitsuyuki) with the hula stylings of Kathy Tokushima and Dale Gushiken-Nip from 5 to 6:30 p.m., followed by the Na Kupuna Ohana Serenaders from 6:30 to 7:30 p.m.

LAC will collect donations for the Maui Food Bank. Bring a nonperishable food item and receive a free appetizer card from Fleetwood’s on Front St.

The Campbell Park Wing Eating Contest sponsored by Captain Jack’s Island Grill is set for 7:30 p.m. How many wings can you eat in four minutes? Come and put your stomach to the test! Entry is $10 and limited to six contestants. Sign up at the scrip booth. The competition will follow the entertainment. Winners will receive gift certificates to Captain Jack’s Island Grill.

LAC partners with Lahaina restaurants to sponsor several West Side keiki non-profits. Purchase ono grinds, baked goods and desserts from 5:30 to 8 p.m. to support these community groups. For more information, call LahainaTown Action Committee at 667-9175.

Explore Lahaina’s unique history with Lahaina Restoration Foundation’s “Ha`ina Hou Let the Story be Told” held at the Baldwin Home and Wo Hing Museum on Front Street.

Kevin Brown of Ola Hou and the Brown ‘Ohana will lead a History of Slack Key presentation and demonstration from 7:30 to 8 p.m. on the Baldwin Home lawn.

LRF’s popular candlelit tour of the Baldwin Home will be held from 6 to 8:30 p.m. at a special Ha`ina Hou admission of $5 per person, which also includes a tour of the Wo Hing Museum. Children accompanied by a paying adult are admitted free.

Lahaina bars and restaurants will feature live music on Second Friday, including Willie K at Kimo’s from 9 to 11 p.m. (pick up your stamped Hula Pie card at the Lahaina Visitor Center for free admission), Hawaiian entertainment from 6 to 9 p.m. at the Pioneer Inn, live jazz overlooking the water at Longhi’s from 7 to 10 p.m., live entertainment from 9:30 to 11:30 p.m. at Moose McGillycuddy’s Lahaina, Evan Shulman from 6 to 9 p.m. at Hard Rock Cafe, Uncle Lui Williams from 5 to 7 p.m. on The Wharf Cinema Center’s stage, Bob Jones and the Drive from 8 to 10:30 p.m. at Captain Jack’s Island Grill and Johnny Ringo from 7:30 to 10 p.m. at Cool Cat Cafe.
