Celebrate the holidays at Lahaina’s Second Friday celebration

LAHAINA – Lahaina has planned a special holiday “Festival of the Arts” for its Second Friday town party on Dec. 14 from 6 to 9 p.m.

Come out to enjoy live music, history, culture and Lahaina’s famous Art Night on Front Street.

Get creative with holiday arts and crafts at the Baldwin Home Museum, and savor the tastes of Lahaina’s many fine restaurants, which will offer “foodie” specials and discounts that night.

The event will begin with an opening blessing by the cast of ‘Ulalena Maui at 6 p.m. at the seawall across from Hard Rock Cafe.

This month’s Concert in the Park presented by LahainaTown Action Committee in Campbell Park across from the Pioneer Inn will feature live Hawaiian music by Al Nip, Lance Tokushima, Geri Valdriz and Donn Mitsuyuki with the hula stylings of Kathy Tokushima and Hauanu Gushiken-Nip from 5 to 7:30 p.m.

The concert event will also feature the Campbell Park Wing Eating Contest sponsored by Captain Jack’s Island Grill at 7:30 p.m. (sign up at the scrip booth) and ono grinds, baked goods and desserts on sale from 5:30 to 8 p.m. to support West Side keiki non-profits.

Explore Lahaina’s unique history with Lahaina Restoration Foundation’s “Ha`ina Hou Let the Story be Told” at the Baldwin Home and Wo Hing museums on Front Street.

Join the crowd at the Baldwin Home Museum at the corner of Front and Dickenson streets for “Christmas with the Baldwins.” LRF’s popular candlelit tour of the Baldwin Home will be held from 6 to 8:30 p.m. at a special admission of $5 per person, which also includes a tour of the Wo Hing Museum at 858 Front St. Children accompanied by a paying adult are free. Enjoy holiday arts and crafts and a farmers’ market by “Polynesian Farms.”

There will be live music throughout Lahaina, including Hawaiian entertainment at the Pioneer Inn from 6 to 9 p.m., The Danyel Alana Band at Kimo’s from 9 to 11 p.m., jazz at Longhi’s from 7 to 10 p.m., Evan Shulman at Hard Rock Cafe from 6 to 9 p.m., Uncle Lui Williams on The Wharf Cinema Center stage from 5 to 7 p.m., Bob Jones and the Drive at Captain Jack’s Island Grill from 8 to 10:30 p.m., and Johnny Ringo at Cool Cat Cafe from 7:30 to 10 p.m.

As the sun sets and “Pau Hana” begins, what better way to start the weekend than to shop Lahaina’s world-renowned art galleries, meet artists, talk story and share in some complimentary pupus and wine from 6 to 9 p.m.?

Local ceramic artist Mary Ann Leigh will be demonstrating hand-built masks at Joelle C Gallery at 505 Front Street from 5 to 8 p.m.; Peter Lik Gallery will have music by Deejay Scotty D, special promotions on art, wine and light pupus; Maui Hands will offer refreshments from 4:30 to 7:30 p.m.; Lahaina Galleries will serve wine from 5 to 10 p.m.; Village Gallery will serve refreshments; Images Fine Art Gallery will offer free wine and live music; Longhi’s Artisan Fair will showcase Made on Maui artwork, jewelry, photography, clothing and more from 5 to 10 p.m.; The Passman Gallery will have pupus, drinks and live music from 6 to 9 p.m.; Sargent’s Fine Art will host music by Curt Lee; and Martin Lawrence Gallery will have music by Deejay Ron from 7 to 10 p.m.
