LAHAINA – Lahaina’s Second Friday town party on Nov. 9 encourages everyone to remember their roots with the theme “Preserving History, Preserving Tradition.”

Explore Lahaina’s unique history with Lahaina Restoration Foundation’s “Ha`ina Hou!” (Let the Story be Told!) at the Baldwin Home and Wo Hing Museum on Front Street.

The Wo Hing Temple at 858 Front St. will feature a special presentation by Dr. Busaba Yip-Douglas on “Sun Yat Sen – The Humanitarian” at 6 p.m.

On display at the Baldwin Home Museum lawn at the corner of Front and Dickenson streets will be “A Story of Quilts.” Quilters from around the island will educate attendees on the art of their craft from 6 to 8 p.m. There will also be Polynesian arts and crafts on display.

The cast of ‘Ulalena Maui will offer an opening blessing for Second Friday at 6 p.m. across from Hard Rock Cafe.

LahainaTown Action Committee’s Concert in the Park in Campbell Park across from Lahaina Public Library will feature live Hawaiian music from 5 to 7:30 p.m. by Al Nip, Lance Tokushima and Geri Valdriz, Mika’ele and the hula stylings of Kathy Tokushima and Hauanu Gushiken-Nip. There will also be a Campbell Park Wing Eating Contest sponsored by Captain Jack’s Island Grill and food booths to support West Side keiki non-profits.

Live music in town includes Hawaiian music from 5 to 9 p.m. at Hula Rock, jazz by Gary Larson in The Shops at 505 Front Street courtyard, Wilmont Kahaiali’i at the Pioneer Inn from 6 to 9 p.m., Willie K. at Kimo’s from 9 to 11 p.m. (free admission coupons are available at the Lahaina Visitor Center in the Old Lahaina Courthouse to the first 30 people), Visibly Shaken at Moose McGillycuddy’s Lahaina from 9:30 to 11:30 p.m., jazz at Longhi’s from 7 to 10 p.m., Evan Shulman at Hard Rock Cafe from 6 to 9 p.m., music on the The Wharf Cinema Center’s stage from 5 to 7 p.m., Bob Jones and the Drive at Captain Jack’s Island Grill from 8 to 10:30 p.m. and Johnny Ringo at Cool Cat Cafe from 7:30 to 10 p.m.

As the sun sets and “pau hana” begins, visit Lahaina’s world-renowned art galleries to meet artists, talk story and share in some free pupus and wine from 6 to 9 p.m.
