Kahana Canoe Club awards scholarships

LAHAINA – At its recent end-of-summer awards banquet held at Lahaina’s Jodo Mission, Kahana Canoe Club honored three club youths with scholarships.
Ariel Kahahane, a sophomore at the University of Hawaii at Hilo, and Cierra Kahahane, a freshman at U.H. Manoa, received $1,000 scholarships. Both are Kamehameha Schools graduates.
Jemma Lung Gat, a student in the Culinary Arts program at the University of Hawaii Maui College and Lahainaluna High School graduate, received a $500 scholarship.
Kahana Canoe Club Vice President and longtime paddler John Kuia stated, “I am so very proud that we are a club that values its keiki and cares about their future.
“We have given thousands of dollars in scholarships annually since 2005. We paddle forward together as one ohana.”
