West Maui Taxpayers Association to host ‘Candidates Night 2012’
LAHAINA – The West Maui Taxpayers Association’s “Candidates’ Night 2012” will be held at Lahaina Civic Center on Thursday, Oct. 18, at 5 p.m.
The WMTA event is the only forum of its kind in West Maui.
The tradition for WMTA’s Candidates’ Night is to invite all candidates appearing on the West Maui ballot. Each candidate may give an introductory statement, followed by preselected questions in a debate format from the WMTA moderator.
If only one candidate in a race is present, or the office is not contested, the candidate will have an opportunity to provide a short statement about his or her mission and goals.
The forum is free and open to the public. Complementary food service starts at 5 p.m., with dinner provided by Arturo Ortiz and Dave Mello of Kaanapali Paradise Grill and Roundtable Pizza.
The event will be aired live on AKAKU: Maui Community Television and videotaped for rebroadcasting.
