The Maui Community Band performed on the Lahaina Public Library lawn on July 4.
KAANAPALI – An afternoon of fine music, food, wine and coffee in Kaanapali Coffee Estates will benefit the Maui Community Band and Arts Education for Children Group on Sunday, Sept. 9, at 3 p.m.
Featuring live performances by the full band and its small ensembles, the event offers a chance to visit a special home in the middle of Maui’s premier coffee plantation while tasting pupus and desserts prepared by top Maui restaurants, accompanied by fine wines and specially roasted Kaanapali coffee.
The band delivers extraordinary music experiences for youth and the Maui community. It is the featured prelude each year of Lahaina’s Fourth of July fireworks celebration and plays regularly at many other Maui venues.
Fifty musicians, ranging from adult professionals to talented students, rehearse weekly and perform together in an uplifting exchange of experience, talent, high expectations and relaxed camaraderie.
This inaugural event will benefit the band in its efforts to perform for Maui at ever-higher levels and take the gift of Maui music to Mainland festivals in 2014.
It will also benefit AECG, as it continues to promote musical events and workshops throughout the island.
Band members will not only perform but also circulate among the guests at the fund-raiser, serving food and refreshments.
A silent auction will feature fine art, attractions, restaurant meals, hotel stays and other unique opportunities.
